Watching my little clients grow is the highlight of my job. Since last year Sydney got brand new glasses and they are just adorable!! She looks like such a little lady! Love watching all of these babes grow up!
There is truly nothing more beautiful than looking at pictures of families in wide open fields, the sun dancing off the lens. Fields are my all-time favorite place to photograph a family. I love the undisturbed beauty, the chance to really be creative and free with my camera, the way I can play with light like in no other location. But let’s face it – a field, although a childhood fantasy of running your hands across the soft grass as you run barefoot, is actually the home to many (and when I say many, I mean millions of) bugs. And a little poison ivy. And if summer is still in the air, mosquitoes (which around here are more like a small bird). I fully explained all of this to mom when we were planning the location and she was all for it! I leapt for joy, dusted off my goulashes, packed the bug spray and got ready for what happens to be one of my favorite sessions, ever! You see, sometimes pain really is beauty! And if you want a truly magical experience in front of the camera, you must put yourself in what I like to call the photographers ‘zone of creativity’ – even if it means you’ll have a few itchies the next day (and even if that means you skip the sandals for more highly fashionable boots :) I could hardly narrow down my favorites for their gallery let alone this blog post :) EnJOY!
I remember asking mom last year at Addison’s 2-year session if they wanted any more children. And now, a year later, they have the most handsome little boy to take his place in the family <3 Such a doll baby, with the most beautiful silky black hair! And boy did he NOT want to miss a thing during his session! The only plus of an awake baby is that mom gets a nice long nap/break after the session is over :) Oh, and Miss Addison! The first quick shot of the morning as she glammed up for her big session. Such a wonderful family to watch grow.
Leah has the perfect little baby (I mean, big girl :) features all rolled into one adorable little girl! From her stunning blue eyes and porcelain skin, to her silly and happy little sayings, she is such a joy to be around! Her session marked the warmest day of the month, and she was ready for spring! I love summer-dress-bare-feet sessions <3
I love my clients. I will say that each one is my favorite and that they are all the most adorable, and the truth is, they are! I adore each family for a very special reason, and Sophie and her family are no different. I have a *very special* place in my heart for little Sophie and her amazing mama, Paige. Sophie was just a bitty baby when I first photographed her and her family. It was my very first session in Raleigh since moving from California. It was FREEZING cold and pouring out, but they were ready to go. They were SO CUTE all bundled up, and some of the images I took that day remain my all-time favorites (I will have to get them up here!). Thank you, Stein family for your continued support and encouragement over the past 2.5 years! My heart is full <3
I adore the song American Honey by Lady Antebellum, and for some reason it always come to mind when I go through images of siblings from summer sessions <3 I also adore these sweet-darling-giggly-happy-adorable sisters and get *so very exited* when mom books a session for them! This makes me ready for summer for sure :)
I had the honor of photographing Carson as a newborn six months ago. It will always amaze me how much a baby can change in six short months. This little cutie gave me a new and fun face with each click of the shutter :) I just had to put together a little collage of all of his fun faces and gorgeous smiles <3
